Common Roof Type

In San Bernardino, asphalt shingle roofing is the most common because it is cheap, and durable. However, not all asphalt shingles are the same. The cheaper the shingle, the less cabale it is to stand up to extreme weather, and high winds. While asphalt shingles are durable, and can last from 20-50 years, it does need to be inspected every 2 years to make sure that the shingles have not curled up at the ends, sagged in the middle, or begun to rot due to moisture build up. Other weather conditions that can influence the condition of your shingles in San Bernardino are the Santa Ana winds, too much sun exposure, or a build up of moisture in your shingles.

Climate

San Bernardino is located in a valley, thus giving it a slightly warmer climate than other locations in Southern CA. The high is in July at 97 degrees. The low is in January, at 39 degrees. San Bernardino gets an average of 16 inches of rain each year, with the majority of the rain fall occuring in February and March.

Population

According to the 2010 census, the population was 209,924 in San Bernardino. 82.7% of the  population lives in households. The average household size was 3.29 people and the median age was 30.3 years.

History
The first people to come into contact with the locals were the Spanish. They began by influencing the local people to adopt the Catholic faith. The first remote outpost was developed in the village of Guachama and was visited by Fr. Francisco Dumetz in the year 1810. Since Fr. Francisco Dumetz reached the village on May 20th which fell on the feast day of San Bernardino of Siena, the San Bernardino Valley was named after the saint.
