Orange County Roof Inspection, Certification

Orange County Roof Type

Clay Tiles and Rubber Shingles are the most common type of roofing material found in Orange County.  Some OC citizens decide to use roofing material that is affordable to install and long lasting, rather than focusing on the style of the roof. Rubber roofing material can last 15-20 years, with the proper maintenance, but it still needs to be inspected every two years to make sure that it has not ripped, torn, or fallen off. This occurs most often where the temperature fluctuates regularly, causing the rubber to expand and contract frequently, weakening it. Other conditions that can affect your rubber roof in Orange County are the Santa Ana winds (high winds of 40 miles per hour), mudslides caused by the surrounding mountains, and direct heat from the sun, causing rubber shingles to expand and contract rapidly, and debris in the valleys.

The Spanish style architecture that is found throughout most of Southern California is also common to Orange County. As a result, the most common roofing material found is Tile roof. Tile roof not only matches the Spanish style architecture, it is also a very durable roofing material. However, while tile roofs can last between 50 and 70 years, it is important that it should be inspected every few years. This is because the tiles can slip out of position, crack, or even break. The excessive heat of the sun causing felt to deteriorate, the high Santa Ana winds and debris in the tiles are all factors that can cause damage to your roof.

Orange County Climate

The majority of rain occurs between December and March.
